"Be the living expression of God's kindness: kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile." - Mother Teresa
When you think about members of our parish, most likely those that come to mind are the ones who attend Mass each week or those that you serve on committees with.
But there are many others who are just as much a part of our church but don't immediately spring to mind because they are not able to attend in person. Loneliness is a common experience for many parishoners, especially for those who are homebound. Many aging seniors face greater challenges in accessing social interaction, resulting in a decreased quality of life.
To fill this void, Blessed Trinity Parish has developed a strong homebound ministry in our community that we are proud of. It helps all of our parishioners stay connected to the parish and, in turn, enriches the life of the church with their continued faith and involvemnet - even from home.
Our Homebound Ministry is comprised of friendly, faith-filled volunteers that visit and support our homebound parishioners. They provide a sense of companionship and social interaction that may be missing from their daily lives by offering a listening ear, engaging in conversation, become Prayer Partners that sit with the sick or dying and pray together, pray the Rosary or Chaplet of Devine Mercy, and offer Holy Communion, arrange for Sacrament of Confession & Anointing of the sick (by priest). They bring a weekly bulletin, share what is happening at the church, bring flowers or treats and remember their birthday. Above all - they genuinely care!
Our volunteers enhance the lives of the homebound and offer a renewed sense of purpose and joy to those they visit. In turn, these homebound parishioners enrich the lives of our volunteers with mutual bonds of faith and friendship.
